County Monthly Employment and Unemployment Trends data (http://proximityone.com/county_employment.htm) are updated monthly. Examine employment and unemployment trends in your counties of interest. What trends will change when and where? How will this impact you?
Each month Proximity develops an extract file from the MetroDynamics (MD) database focused on county employment and unemployment trends. The extract file includes monthly projections based on the county-level employment and unemployment data published monthly by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Projections are developed by Proximity using the MD Modeler, related data and multi-scenario assumptions. The MD extract data are integrated into a shapefile for visual analysis. The shapefile is added to a CommunityViewer GIS project to develop many different types of employment-unemployment geospatial analyses and maps. Unlike PDF and webserver maps, you can integrate your data with these tools to examine prospective future impact on your projects, programs and operations.
Use monthly ranking tables to examine overall U.S. county employment/unemployment patterns and trends or a specific state. The graphics presented below illustrate use of the ranking tables selecting Texas and ranking on the unemployment rate in descending order. Data shown in these graphics are not seasonally adjusted. June data are preliminary; May data have been updated with revised state controls and inputs.
Use the table shown in this graphic interactively at http://proximityone.com/county_employment.htm.

The Census Bureau does not tabulate Core-Based Statistical Area (CBSA -- MSAs and MISAs) age-race/ethnicity-gender estimates. Here is how to get these data.
As described elsewhere in DMINews, the Census Bureau develops annual estimates for the population by age-race/ethnicity-gender. Use the Proximity GeoDemographic Information System (GDIS) to display/analyze these data as shown in this example:
The Census Bureau tabulates Core-Based Statistical Area (CBSA) total population estimates and components of change, but not age-race/ethnicity-gender estimates. Use the GDIS tool to perform the CBSA county component aggregation.

Proximity has developed updated state by census tract boundary files with integrated demographics. The boundary files (shapefiles) may be used with the CommunityViewer software or any software that can process shapefiles. Both the census tract boundaries and demographics are Census 2000 vintage. The boundary files updates reflect more detailed and precise boundaries than earlier smoothed versions. Boundaries exactly match all geographies updated in the Census Bureau MAF/TIGER Accuracy Improvement Project (counties, census blocks, places, roads, water features, etc.) . For coastal states, tract boundaries extending to 3-mile limit have been clipped to the state smoothed water edge boundary.
See more about structure and use of the tract boundary files with integrated demographics at http://proximityone.com/tracts.htm.

School district revenue and expenditure data for fiscal year 2007, collected and tabulated by the Census Bureau under the sponsorship/funding of the U.S. Department of Education, are now available. These data are the only source of national scope school district level financial data and enable intrastate school district financial analysis using a standardized set of data.
SDDynamics Revenue-Expenditure Profiles & Analysis
School District Expenditure Patterns. Use the national scope school district expenditure patterns interactive ranking table at http://proximityone.com/sd_exp_patterns.htm to examine total, per capita, and per student expenditure patterns for individual districts. Select state of interest and/or re-order the view by metro or county.
Thematic Mapping and Pattern Analysis. Updated school district financial data are added to the CommunityViewer School Demographic Analysis integrated database enabling thematic mapping and pattern analysis using the CommunityViewer GIS software on your computer.

Census Day is April 1, 2010, and marks the reference date for Census 2010 data. The "Census 2010/American Community Survey" DMINews section provides monthly highlights of current and pending developments regarding these programs. The focus is on data access and use and to a lesser extent data development and related operations. Proximity will continue to maintain the decennial census focused Web pages Census 2000 and Census 2010.
From the data analysis perspective, Census 2010 and the annual American Community Survey will be integrally connected. The Census 2010 section has been expanded to cover topics that may be of use to data access and use stakeholders relating to both Census 2010 and the American Community Survey (ACS).
Updates this month include (see Census 2010/ACS):
(includes sample table showing updated estimates of relevant children not enrolled in school by school district)
