MetroDynamics: Database and Updating

MD Database. The MD database is a composite of several separate tables/files. These data are sourced from major Federal statistical agencies including the Bureau of the Census, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Bureau of Economic Analysis, and others. Proximity develops additional subject matter. These data sources are structured in a database manner so that that can be easily integrated and accessed. Users may optionally access the databases with their own software.

Updates Calendar. The MD database is updated continuously with monthly, quarterly, and annual updates. Official metro definitions may change at any time and are updated as they occur.

The 2008 updates calendar (generally same for any year) is shown below.

July	• 7/1/2007 official city/place population estimates and components of change (and prior period revisions)
Aug	• 2007 4rh quarter establishments, employment and wages by 6-digit industry detail (and prior period revisions)
Sept	• 2000 - 2007 Demographic Profile updates • 7/1/2007 county age-race-gender estimates (and prior period revisions) • 2008 2nd quarter housing price index (and prior period revisions)
Nov	• 2008 1st quarter establishments, employment and wages by 6-digit industry detail (and prior period revisions) • 2007 annual & quarterly establishments, employment and wages by 6-digit industry detail (and prior period revisions)
