MetroView MetroView provides interactive viewing of Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSA) interfaced with Google maps. State by MSA Web pages (accessible via the State by MSA drop down box; requires authorization) provide views of MSAs organized by state. MSA by County Web pages (accessible via the MSA by County drop down box; requires authorization) provide views of individual MSAs by county.
Clicking on the San Antonio MSA marker, shows the mini-demographic profile. The latest annual official population estimates are shown with percentage change from year to year. Clicking markers in the map view makes it easy to compare areas.
Clicking on the link in the profile provides a summary of counties in the MSA. The state and county FIPS codes are shown after the county name.
Use the Zoom slider bar at left to zoom in for more detailed street map view. This graphic shows the Comal County portion of San Antonio MSA. The red line is northeast MSA boundary.

Map Development. The base map has been generated by converting a MSA shapefile into an XML file that is then interfaced with Google maps. The shapefile-to-XML file translation process is a generalized feature of the Proximity CommunityViewer software. You can develop maps using this method and place an html file similar to this one on your server. The map view window can range from neighborhood to a country to a continent. Contact us for more information -- add "Google maps" in the notes section. |
