SDIS Subject Matter
SDIS provides access to several multi-sourced datasets.
The Proximity demographic estimates and projections database
provides access to detailed data on children's demographics organized by school, school district, county
and state with national summaries.
SDIS includes data from several Federal agencies:
• Census Bureau and National Center for Education Statistics
- Census 2000 School District Special Tabulation
- 1990 Census School District Special Tabulation
- Intercensal estimates of population and income
• National Center for Education Statistics
- Common Core of Data school and school district
fiscal and non-fiscal data
• Bureau of Labor Statistics
- Local Area Unemployment Statistics
- Covered Wages and Employment (CEW/ES-202)
Proximity augments several of these data resources by maintaining parallel updated database versions.
In many cases Proximity data, collected directly from state education agencies is the most up-to-date source
of data available. Proximity also maintains data fields for school districts and schools not available
from any other source.
