Data Driven DecisionMaking Workshops Custom Programs -- have a custom structured session for your group WebCourses Data Driven Decision Making Workshops Workshops described on this page are conducted in face-to-face and Web meeting formats. Inquire about a session for your organization conducted at your location or scheduled upcoming sessions. MD01. Analysis of Metropolitan Area Competitive Position and Business Opportunities Participate in this workshop to learn how to use the Proximity MetroDynamics to analyze metro to metro competitive position and business opportunities. Instruction is provided on use of all basic MetroDynamics operations. Learn about using this most comprehensive set of economic/demographic data organized in a quarterly updated relational database. Learn how to integrate your own data to perform powerful data driven decision-making operations. SD01. School & School District GeoDemographic Analysis Participate in this workshop to learn how to access, develop, and analyze school and school district geodemographics. Learn how to organize these data to meet wide-ranging management, planning and analysis needs. The program is designed for education agency leaders and staff, related stakeholder organizations, businesses serving the K-12 education market, and researchers engaged in areas of children's demographics and K-12 education. The computer hands-on program is designed for non-programmer participants with limited experience using computer-based geodemographics. Topics include: -- Review of higher priority geodemographics available for school/school district planning and analysis. -- School Demographic Analysis. -- Using site analysis with student geocoded data for facility and performance analyses. -- Building and Using a School District GeoDemographic Information System. -- Developing and Using School District Demographic Estimates & Projections. CV01. Using CommunityViewer and GeoDemographic Analysis – Introduction to GIS Participate in this introductory level GeoDemographic Information System (GIS) workshop for CommunityViewer users. All basic CommunityViewer GIS operations are covered in the context of small area demographic analysis. The program is designed for CV users (all levels) with little/no experience using CV and limited or no GIS experience. CV02. Using CommunityViewer and GeoDemographic Analysis – Intermediate GIS Participate in this intermediate/advanced session GeoDemographic Information System (GIS) workshop for CommunityViewer users. All basic CommunityViewer GIS operations are reviewed. The session is focused on more advanced geospatial and geodemographic analysis operations. The program is designed for CV users (levels 2 and 3) with experience using CV and some GIS experience. Attendees should have completed the CV01 Introduction to GIS workshop or equivalent. Focus topics: -- All CV Database and Tool Operations -- Demographic Analysis Modules -- Site Analysis -- Developing and integrating Demographic Estimates and Projections LUCA01. CommunityViewer and Census 2010 Local Update of Census Addresses (LUCA) Operations This program is designed for participants in the Census Bureau Census 2010 Local Update of Census Addresses (LUCA) Program. Participate in this session to learn how to use the CommunityViewer software to geocode local sourced address data and integrate local sourced address data with Census supplied address data. Participants also learn about using the CommunityViewer software to analyze LUCA generated housing count and group quarters data fro wide ranging planning and analysis needs. CG01. Geocoding and Using TIGER/Line Shapefiles Participate in this session to learn how to most effectively geocode address data and associate geocoded address data with other geocodes (such as places, census tracts, census blocks) and demographic attributes of small area geography. Topics covered in this session also apply to other software such as ArcGIS. Focus topics: -- CommunityViewer online geocoder (uses online Web-based geocoder) -- CommunityViewer local geocoder (uses locally stored TIGER/Line shapefiles) -- ADRCODE (http://proximityone.com/geocoder/adrcode.htm) – command line/batch geocoder -- Using New TIGER/Line Shapefiles The session covers using the new (2008 vintage) TIGER/Line shapefiles (TGRSHP) as base files for geocoding and more generally to develop GIS projects of all types. The TLS are not the older TIGER/Line derived shapefiles but the Census sourced newly (December 2007) developed (and structurally revised). There is no TLS streets shapefile; in the session we review use of the CV Edge2Street feature to create road/street shapefiles. [goto top] |
